Creative Multimedia Which Involves Advertising Create Impact On The Society
In this world, media is needed in our daily life to communicate. Mass media can be defined as any media meant to reach a mass amount of people. Different types of media can be used to deliver these messages, including traditional media such as newspapers, magazines, television, radio, outdoor or direct mail; or new media such as websites and text messages. There are three types of media we can categories as which are "Digital Media", "Printed Media", and "Broadcast Media". Digital media are those which involves with internet and web while broadcast media are those which involves with motion and sound like television and radio. Printed media is the oldest media which involves printing messages to communicate like newspapers and posters. Which media categories is advertising fall into? Of course advertising falls into all the three types of media. What is actually mean by advertising? Based on the Wikipedia info, "Advertising" is one of the media forms which is a form of communication intended to persuade an audience (viewers, readers or listeners) to purchase or take some action upon products, ideas, or services. It contains messages which are usually paid for by sponsors and viewed via various media. Advertising can also serve to communicate an idea to a large number of people in an attempt to convince them to take a certain action.
There are two types of categories of advertising. One is "Commercial Advertising" and another one is "Non-Commercial Advertising". Commercial advertising often seek to generate increased consumption products or services through branding, which involves the repetition of an image or product name in an effort to associate related qualities with the brand in the minds of consumers. Non-commercial advertising is to advertise items other than a consumer product or service include political parties, interest groups, religious organizations and governmental agencies. Those two types of advertising are known as "Modern Advertising" which has been developed with the rise of mass production in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Advertising is a form of communication which contains messages that involves interaction between producers and consumers. Besides that, advertising is used for entertain the consumers. Advertising should be effective to consumers and easy to be understood without any doubt or confusion so that is can give lasting impact towards the consumers. The advertising should be "KISS" which is known as "Keep It Simple and Short".
Advertising has become as much a part of our lives as breathing. When you use any media forms such as television, internet and so on, advertising can be seen. Advertising does give an impact towards the society which involves politic, economy and social. Everything in the world does have pros and cons which same goes to advertising. Advertising also does have the pros and cons which include positive effects and negative impacts towards society. Based on the economy, the advertising is known as a business which has become such an important factor in many countries, especially in the United States. The stimulation for the demand of products and services helps the economy grow stronger and stronger. New inventions, products and advance technologies plus gadgets are being introduced and can establish their spot in the sales figures of the economy by advertising. There are dozens of products or services that are pushed onto consumers which increases consumer awareness and consumption. If there are more people buying these products the overall costs will drop and the product will become cheaper for the customer which raises his willingness to buy even more. Besides that, advertising does give high incomes for the people who in the advertising field which also increase the job opportunity for the new generations to occupy. In politic view, advertising plays the role of political system and military defense. During elections, advertising helps the candidates in each party to communicate with the nominators so that they will be nominated for certain posting for the development of the countries. At the same time, it also increases the awareness and the stability of military defense of each country.
The impact of society based on social does really have a huge impact too. Advertising became a medium for providing essential health information to consumers who might not have received that information before. Not only health information is shared to the consumers but also other types of information and general knowledge too. At the same time, it also educate people all around the world especially the new generations to produce smart people in the future and to increases the educational level too. Meanwhile, advertising also expose many types of culture. The globalized economy uses the same commercials in a lot of different countries, which leads to a break down in the differences of these societies. Children will grow up not knowing how their culture has been before in their country. It can also lead to a lot of discussion about moral values which can lead the consumers towards success in their daily life.
Advertising not only provide positive impact towards the consumers but also negative impacts. In the economy view, advertising is expensive and some economists believe that these costs are put on top of the actual price paid by the customers. The longer the time of an advertisement is being advertised, the higher the firms have to pay for the advertising which can cost a really very high pay and expensive. In political view, non-commercial advertisers sometimes provide wrong information and messages about politic which can lead towards racism and bad name plus bad impression towards the candidates and the parties in the country too which does affect the political system. While in social view, consumers sometimes get bored and don’t give any respond to some of the advertisement because it is not attractive and not meaningful plus the period of the advertisement being advertise is too long for them to view and understand. At the same time, some of the advertisements have less moral values which contain bad influences and wrong concept of culture and messages such as smoking cigarettes, alcohol and so on.
In conclusion, advertising has a huge impact towards the society. It depends greatly upon the audience and its reception of the techniques used to influence the consumers. Advertising does have pros and cons which provide positive and negative impact towards the society and same goes to other stuff but as consumers, they have to just accept the positive things which are provided by the advertisement to guide them towards success in our daily life and the negative things shouldn’t be buried in their memories throw it away from their minds.
